BreatheWood

BreatheWood is a community field house located in the Austin Neighborhood of West Chicago. The project focuses on bringing a safe and reliable space for youth in the community to participate in sports, learn healthy habits, and enjoy time with their friends. In the Austin neighborhood and surrounding area, residents are exposed to roughly 32% more pollution in the air. To combat this the 3rd floor of the field house is a zone for ozone-free positive ionization technology is used to reduced air pollutions by 75% in the area. It works by drawing in polluted air, giving pollutants a positive charge, and capturing them using a negatively charged surface.
